sort out 整理;解决

  • If you sort out a group of things ,you separate them into different classes,groups ,or places ,for example so that you can do different things with them.
  • If you sort out a problem or the details of something,you do what is necessary to solve the problem or organize the details.

speak for 为…说话,代表…发言

  • If you speak for a group of people,you make their views and demands known,or represent them.

speak out against 公开反对

  • If you speak out against something,you say publicly that you think it is bad.

speak up 发声;大声地说

  • If you speak up,you say something,especially to defend a person or protest about something,rather than just saying nothing.
  • If you ask someone to speak up,you are asking them to speak more loudly.

speed up 加速

  • When something speeds up or when you speed it up,it moves or travels faster.
  • When a process or activity speeds up or when something speeds it up,it happens at a faster rate.

spring from 起源于

  • If one thing springs from another thing,it is the result of it.

spring up 冒出;涌出

  • If something springs up,it suddenly appears or begins to exist.

stand by 做好准备;袖手旁观;继续支持;继续执行

  • If you are standing by,you are ready and waiting to provide help or to take action.
  • If you stand by and let something bad happen,you do not do anything to stop it.
  • If you stand by someone,you continue to give them support,especially when try are in trouble.
  • If you stand by an eariler decision,promise,or statement,you continue to support it or keep it.

  • If you stand in for someone,you take their place or do their job,because they are sick or away.

stand out 凸显;突出

  • If something stands out,it is very noticeable.
  • If something stands out from a surface,it rises up from it.

stand up for 捍卫

  • If you stand up for someone or something,you defend them and make your feeling or opinions very clear.

stand up to 经受住;抵抗

  • If something stands up to bad conditions,it is not damaged or harmed by them.
  • If you stand up to someone,especially someone, more powerful than you are,you defend yourself against their attacks or demands.

stare at 凝视

  • If you stare at someone or something,you look at them for a long time.

start up 开办;发动

  • To start up a business means the same as to start it.
  • To start up a car means the same as to start it.

  • If you start by doing something,you do that thing first in a series of actions.

stay up 熬夜

  • If you stay up,you remain out of bed at a time when most people have gone to bed or at a time when you are normally in bed yourself.

  • If someone steps down or steps aside,they resign from an important job or position,often in order to let someone else take their place.

  • If you step on something,you place or press your foot on it.

  • If you step out,you go outside or leave a room,building ,etc.,especially briefly.
