telexistence “refers to the general technology that allows a human being to experience a real-time sensation of being in a place other than his/her actual location and to interact with the remote environment, which maybe real, virtual or a combination of both”. Telexistence is often connected with telepresence , which is a very similar concept, but with a narrower scope.
The most significant difference between the two concepts is that telepresence does not include telexistence in virtual environments or telexistence in a real environment through a virtual environment.
Co-presence is the degree to which the observer believes he/she is not alone and secluded, their level of peripheral or focal awareness of the other, and their sense of the degree to which the other is peripherally or focally aware of them.
Perceived message understanding is the ability of the user to understand the message being received from the interactant as well as their perception of the interactant’s level of message understanding.
mutual telexistence is a telexistence system that can provide both the sensations of being present (self-presence) and being perceived present (their presence) and is used mainly for communication purposes, whereas haptic telexistence adds haptic sensation to the visual and auditory sensations of self-presence and is used mainly for remote operations of real tasks.
