linux build ruby on rails

1. Install ruby parser

Ruby official website:

http://www.ruby-lang.org/en/downloads/download to the linux server, thentar zxvf ruby-1.9.3-p194.tar.gz

cd ruby-1.9.3-p194

./configure –prefix=/usr/local/ruby

make && make install

ln -s /usr/local/ruby/bin/ruby /usr/bin/ruby

ln -s /usr/local/ruby/bin/irb /usr/bin/irb

ln -s /usr/local/ruby/bin/gem /usr/bin/gem

configure the environment varibles

vi /etc/profile

//add the following content

RUBY_HOME=/usr/local/ruby

PATH=$PATH:$RUBY_HOME/bin

//parser by default install the gem

 

2.Install rails

gem install rails

if using mysql database to run command:

gem install mysql

install the mysql gem denpendencies, if not install, the following to install mysql will prompt error, need install libmysqlclient15-dev package

yum -y install libmysqlclient15-dev

 

3.Install other dependent package

gem install execjs

gem install therubyracer

 

install nodejs

wget http://nodejs.org/dist/v0.6.14/node-v0.6.14.tar.gz

tar -zxvf node-v0.6.14.tar.gz

cd node-v0.6.14

./configure

make && make install

rails the basic operation

cd /website

rails new {object name} -d mysql // -d specify the database

modify the database configureion file

vi /website/project/config/database.yml

cd /website/project/script

./rails generate controller home index

./rails s //start rails

 

//if run rails server error: Could not find a JavaScript runtime

vi Gemfile // execjs 还需要后端才能处理，想简单解决可以加上这个 Gem

gem 'therubyracer'
