O Architecture! My Architecture!
1
O ARCHITECTURE! my Architecture! The horrible coding phase is done;
The application is running, the functionalities they sought are crunching;
The release date is near, the yells I hear, the people all exciting,
While follow eyes the enormous classes, the functions snarling and yawning;
But O Code! Code! Code!
O the complicated and incomprehensible construct;
Where on the UML graph my Architecture lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
2
O Architecture! my Architecture! rise up and hear the yells;
Rise up - for you should the people dance - for you should the customer go nuts;
For you the money and markets, for you their smile faces;
For you they'd wait, the expecting eyes and trembling hands;
Here Architecture! Dear son!
My arm beneath your body;
It's some dream we had in the design phase,
You've fallen cold and dead.
3
My Architecture does not answer, those UML notations are pale and still;
My son does not feel my arm, he has no pulse or will;
The tests all passed, the branch is freezed and nailed, the shipping is near;
From lengthy code, the thrilling code, comes the functionalities we've been desiring
Exult, O demos, and roadshows, O hypes!
But I, with overwhelming fear,
tear the paper my architecture lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
