有关Chill的各种地道表达

 

      导读：当你比较激动的时候，朋友会经常劝你说Calm down或者Chill out. Chill是什么意思呢？又有哪些用法呢？

 

1. Catch a chill. 着凉，感冒

Don't go out with wet hair, you might catch a chill. 别湿着头发就跑出去，会着凉的。

It's no joke catching a chill when you are recovering from an injury. 你正在养伤，受了寒可不是玩儿的！

Tips: 这里的chill是寒冷，寒气的意思，为可数名词。catch a chill更多的表示感冒是由天气而引起的；have/catch a cold则可以表示通过他人感染。

 

2. Cast a chill over sb. 使某人感到沮丧、寒心

The unpleasant news cast a chill over the whole party. 那个不愉快的消息让整个聚会的人都意兴阑珊。

The extensive security measures might cast a chill over the Games. 大范围的安全检查措施可能会让奥运会蒙上阴影。

 

3. Take the chill off sth. 驱除寒气，把…暖一暖

Take the chill off the water before you bathe. 洗澡前先把水加热。

We lit the fire to take the chill off the room. 我们点了火，好驱走房间里的寒气。

 

4. Put the chill on sb. 对某人冷淡，杀死某人

Nancy doesn't know why her husband put the chill on her. 南希不清楚她丈夫为何对她冷淡。

You can't just put the chill on her only because you don't like her. 你不能因为不喜欢她就把她杀了。

 

5. Chill out. 休闲放松，平静下来

I'm just chilling out in front of the TV. 我正看电视放松呢。

Chill out, mum. The train doesn't leave for another hour. 悠着点，老妈。火车一个小时后才开呢。

 

6. Chill sb. to the bone/marrow. 使人感到害怕，感到寒气刺骨

This is a film that will chill you to the bone. 这是部会让你毛骨悚然的电影。

His threat chilled her to the bone. 他威胁她，把她吓坏了。
