On Linux, the installation is simply done by

• creating a destination directory (anywhere you want)
• cd to the above directory
• tar -xzvf /DIRECTORY_WHERE_ARE_YOUR_DOWNLOADS/Vortex_Studio_*_x64_gcc48.tar.gz

And the activation can be done via the command line tool: 

• sudo bin/VortexLicenseManager --activate 1234-5678-1234-5678
• For more details:
• sudo bin/VortexLicenseManager --help

Activation can also be done manually, if the machine has no access to the internet.  Refer to the above documentation link.
